About The Artwork
The Earthslide Series was begun in 1980 when I was ill from paint fumes and couldn't paint, I blew up my sketchbook drawings, After a year of drawing, I obtained a show of 30 of these drawings at Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, New York, This Earthslide drawing was done on the next size paper of all-cotton Coventry Rag paper, It is large enough for gestural abstraction, The Earthslide drawings mirror my environment in California, the violent movement of the Earth during quakes storms, and avalanches. Also my own emotional upheavals. They are rapidly done gestural marks as I hit the paper with my full body gestures,
