As a result of a kind of brainwave I realised that it in fact is all to easy and in a sence logic to combine the slender construction of a spider with the light, graceful way in which a Thonet chair is made. Certainly the classic version with the double 'beam' in the backrest.

Ever since I can remember I'm drawing although I had no examples whatsoever in my childhood. I grew up on a small farm near Venlo in the the south of the Netherlands. The urge to draw finally lead to the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming Tilburg where I graduated in 1990 in drawing and painting.From that time on I am working on a collection mostly dominated by chairs depicted in very different ways. Perspective and perception are crucial elements in this never ending quest. These works are drawn with pencil or painted with watercolor. Still driven by my urge to draw.
