Recently I have been overpainting older works and tried out new ways of expressing emotions and feelings. Here I started to play around with oil colors, enjoying the texture of it, the palette knife and was completely absorbed in what it felt like.
"Breaking In II" can be seen as just a landscape with waves breaking in, but can also be understood as emotions and feelings breaking in, things can happen in our life and break in... life means constant change, we have to deal with it, it can be stormy, it can be wild, it can drown us, but it can also contain great beauty.

30x24x2 cm on canvas. Signed on the back. Ready to hang with hook. Lots of texture due to the overpainting and the oil color. Sparkling when hit by light because of the silver color. The sides are painted, but a silver wooden floating frame would look great. Ask me if you want it framed like that.

Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
