Maryana Chistol is a contemporary artist based in Western Australia, working primarily in watercolour.
Her practice is rooted in close observation of the natural world, with a particular focus on botanical forms. Through flowers, birds, animals and still life, she explores colour, fragility, transformation and the quiet beauty of imperfection.
Watercolour is central to her work for its transparency, sensitivity and unpredictability. Combining detailed observation with the natural movement of pigment and water, Chistol creates works that move between realism and more expressive, fluid passages.
She is a member of the Watercolour Society of Western Australia. Her work has been selected for numerous juried exhibitions and art awards across Western Australia. In 2025, she received the Sponsors’ Choice Award at the 45th Watercolours WA Annual Awards Exhibition.
Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries and is held in private collections.
