Contact us.Kselma Randvald is a contemporary painter focused on capturing the invisible energy of the world through the bold, tactile medium of oil. Her work explores the vibrant tension between tradition and modernity, often finding beauty in the friction between historical symbols and the electric pulse of the urban landscape. Having lived and practiced in Estonia, Ireland, and Italy, her art is a synthesis of Northern European serenity and the rich architectural heritage of the Mediterranean.
The "Red Windmills" Series
Her current signature series, Red Windmills, is a conceptual journey into the "soul of the city." By placing the iconic, silent silhouette of a windmill against the flickering neon of a metropolis, she invites the viewer to reflect on our roots and our restless progress. For Randvald, the windmill is not just a relic of the past, but a timeless anchor in a fast-changing world.
Technique & Background
The artist works almost exclusively with a palette knife, employing a heavy impasto technique. This allows her to sculpt the paint, creating a rich, three-dimensional surface where light doesn’t just hit the canvas—it dances across it. Her paintings are meant to be felt as much as they are seen, offering a visceral experience of color and motion.
Randvald’s academic foundation in art and design, further refined through years of travel across Europe, has led to a style that honors the masters of Impressionism—such as Monet and Van Gogh—while maintaining a sharp, contemporary edge. Currently based in Bulgaria, she continues to explore the boundaries of oil painting, creating works that are now held in private collections across Europe and internationally.
