Contact us.Brittanie Mood is a contemporary mixed-media artist based in Hedgesville, West Virginia, creating evocative works under the definitive style of "Vibrant Nightmares." Rooted deeply in dark surrealism and psychological portraiture, her art explores the intricate, often turbulent landscapes of memory, human emotion, and the process of becoming.
Mood’s distinctive aesthetic juxtaposes intense, vivid color palettes with hauntingly surreal themes, capturing the dualities of beauty and discomfort. Her process is intensely tactile and experimental, seamlessly integrating traditional paint with organic and unyielding elements—including snake skin, dried petals, minerals, gold leaf, and high-gloss epoxy, UV, and ceramic resins. This physical layering mirrors the emotional layers of her subjects, giving each piece a visceral, textured depth.
A recognized voice in the regional and international art community, Mood’s work was awarded 7th place in the international juried exhibition BOAPS 2026. In early 2026, she published her debut visual art memoir, The Shattering: A Journey Through Art, Memory, and Becoming. Her original paintings and limited-edition books are collected both privately and featured across prominent local establishments and public exhibitions. Through her registered studio, CreationsByMood, she continues to push the boundaries of psychological surrealism, inviting viewers to confront the brilliant shadows within the human experience.
