Blue skies, a sparkling ocean, fresh green grass, and vintage cars in every color. These photographs capture a seaside classic car show, where wood-paneled woodies and chrome-trimmed beauties from the 1930s through the 1960s shine in the sun. What moved me most were the people behind the cars. The ...

Contact us.Frankfurt-born artist Beate Walden creates photographic artwork that blurs the line between reality and imagination. Her work has been honored at the International Photography Awards (IPA), the London International Creative Competition (LICC), and the PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris. She has had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and San Miguel de Allende.
Walden also creates commissioned artwork. Recent commissions include the cover art for SPRING, the album by Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton and pianist Tamir Hendelman. [Add other commissions here: clients, publications, private collections.]
Inspired by poetry, philosophy, and the foundations of human nature, her “photonarratives” blend beauty and truth with humor and dreamlike magic. For more than two decades her work has opened portals into imagined yet strangely familiar worlds: echoes of our dreams, daily quests, and quiet hopes. She invites viewers to see their world again with optimism, harmony, and wonder.
“I photograph the beautiful and brilliant from the inside out,” Walden says. Her art asks us to remember our innate innocence, and to consider how holding on to that deep sense of splendor might help us shape a better world for all.
Each piece begins with travel and observation: European landscapes, the dramatic skylines of American cities, intimate human portraits, and the natural glory of animals. Those images are only the starting point. Through post-photographic merging and photographic painting, Walden weaves hundreds of layers into a single composite. From the first concept through the photo session to the final construction, each work is one of a kind and offers a respite into an imagined reality.
