Artist Statement The existing beauty in the natural world fascinates me. Photography is a means to explore, admire, and share this beauty with others. I seek to invoke a dialogue about nature by focusing on its wonderful physical structure, repeating patterns, and intertwined construct. As a medium photography enables me to re-present the aesthetic found in nature through the artistic process. My work comes into being from non-manipulated photographs that embrace documentary values as I try to visualise the qualities that are found in the details of the natural world. Beyond being a realistic approach, that takes its substance from the physical world, my photography practice is an interpretive approach. It deals with elements of form, colour, tone, space, texture; and principles derived from nature such as rhythm, balance, proportion, emphasis, and harmony. Using these fundamentals and perceptual phenomena I re-present the aesthetic in nature by being inspired from the qualities I find in it. By doing so, I seek to both reflect and interpret physical reality, and to express the beauty in nature.
