In my oil paintings I fuse impressionism with fine art and touches of realism and semi-abstraction. The work I have created flows with subtle color transitions and soft contours, captured by seemingly endless, gentle swirls that create a peaceful scene. Contact us.Dominika Block is a German-based painter, born in Gdańsk and educated at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
For many years, her painting moved between figuration and abstraction, driven by an interest in human experience, emotion and the narrative potential of images.
Her current work marks a fundamental shift. In the emerging body of work Inner Architecture, the human figure withdraws and space itself becomes the subject. Walls, openings, planes, light and absence form ambiguous spatial situations in which inside and outside, surface and depth, solidity and emptiness can exchange roles.
Block is interested in the moment when perception becomes uncertain. Architectural elements are therefore not representations of real places, but psychological and perceptual structures.
Reduction has become an increasingly important part of her practice: fewer elements, greater tension. Abstraction and representation remain connected, but the narrative now takes place within space itself.
