Showed at the The Other Art Fair
Artist featured in a collection
This painting was inspired by current events ( December 2021), specifically, the almost day-to-day changes in the state of the pandemic felt by so many as we try to adapt to changing regulations and realities. It is meant to exude a feeling of hope and endurance with change. This work contains grey, white, gold, and black and features whimsical brushstrokes. This work is created using acrylic paint on Canson archival Canvas Paper (Canva-Paper, acid-free 136 lbs) which is a thick paper resembling linen. The work is unframed and signed on the back so as not to interrupt the aesthetic. Please note that the in situ images are for display purposes only to show the work in a frame This artwork will be carefully packaged in an acid-free bag and in between two strong cardboard sheets for safe flat shipment in a box. It will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Joyce is an internationally collected Multidisciplinary Painter and Sculptor living and working in Toronto. While her main focus is Abstract Expressionist painting, she also has a passion for sculpting and drawing the human form for which she was academically trained. Over the last twelve years, Joyce has exhibited in solo and group shows within Canada and internationally. Featured on several occasions in American Art Collector magazine since 2009, her work is found in private and public collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe. STATEMENT "My paintings are Abstract Expressionist and entirely conceptual. They are bold and passionate created with conviction in response to a specific emotion or state of being. Working medium to large in size I start by randomly applying heavy-bodied Gesso to the canvas to create a geometric design. I then use this design as a template for acrylic paint application. I rarely use colour directly from the tube and prefer instead to mix my own. I feel this lends an intimacy to the work. Using large brushes and/or palette knives I allow some paint to drip while scraping out various areas to reveal the underpainting. My goal is to say as much as possible without having a big discussion. I want people to see what uniquely speaks to them, depending on their own situation. People see different things in my work. Movement, Colour, and Passion are words I often hear people use when they speak about my work. I have been most influenced by the great Abstract Expressionists of post-World War II America. Specifically, I feel my work most resembles what one would see if Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, and Hans Hofmann had collaborated to paint something together."
