Contact us.Nwansawarna is an Indonesian artist based in Depok, whose practice explores identity, memory, and perception through fragmented figurative and geometric forms.
Fragment Figure is an ongoing exploration of identity, memory, and the fragmented nature of human experience.
I see identity not as something fixed or complete, but as something continuously shaped by memories, relationships, places, and experiences. What we remember, what we forget, and what remains with us becomes a collection of fragments that gradually forms who we are.
Through figurative forms, geometric structures, and fragmented perspectives, I deconstruct familiar subjects and reconstruct them into new visual experiences. The fragments are not intended to destroy the figure, but to reveal that there can be many ways of seeing and understanding the same person, memory, or moment.
My process is influenced by the visual language of Cubism, but I use fragmentation as a personal vocabulary rather than simply as a stylistic approach. Each broken plane represents a different point of view, a piece of memory, or a layer of identity.
For me, a fragmented figure is not an incomplete figure.
It is a figure that is still becoming.
