About this painting: "Wave Rider" Seascapes have always been a favorite of artist Kim Reid. When she witnessed this gull riding the upsurge of air from the breaking wave, she took a mental picture. Later in her studio she rendered it in acrylics on canvas. Some airbrush was used to capture the waves...

Contact us.My work represents a lifetime of professional illustration experience. A love of capturing the magnificent beauty of the redwoods is my favorite topic. I am working on a series of portraits of the most iconic ancient redwood trees: Big Red, Luna, Corkscrew Tree, Curly Redwoods, Giant Tree, and now Hyperion. I am also illustrating and writing a children's book based on my painting called 'The Sorrel Forest.'
ReefLife sculptures have been recently added to this collection of work on Saatchi Art. They are collages with ceramic and painted with acrylics. The backgrounds are air-brushed mirrors. These relief sculptures are within a plexiglass box for protection, and it gives an aquarium-like appearance.
My paintings of Euro-castle history, ancestral villages, and California Missions were inspired by extensive travels. A defining characteristic of these works is a feeling of space and depth within the picture whereby the viewer is drawn into the painting. In some of my paintings, a loose, big-brushed edge pulls the viewer's eye to the painting's center to see the finest detail. This technique gives a study effect with white edge room for calligraphy notes and historical coat of arms sketches. It also gives an interesting white border effect that has a dream feeling. A love of capturing nature, landscapes, and history has inspired all her painting collections.
