Junghyun Park (b. South Korea) is a Seoul-based painter working primarily in soft pastel. Her minimal figurative portraits treat color and composition as psychological instruments: solitary figures sit within niches, arches, and thresholds, where a single dominant tone carries the emotional charge of the image. Influenced by Modigliani, Nicolas Party, and René Magritte, Park sets serene, almost decorative surfaces against unsettled interior states, asking how the self is formed under the gaze and judgment of others. Works such as Frame and Archetype belong to an ongoing series on inherited boundaries, the meeting with one's younger self, and the emotions we are reluctant to witness in ourselves.
