A moon made of paper mache. The dark areas on its surfaces are pieces of paper with various images of paving slaps, shutters, motor oils, and other textures common in a big city as Athens. The artwork was presented at the international art meeting "Back to Athens 9". This urban moon is a contradiction between the images that pass before my eyes as I walk in Athens and the enlightenment which comes through daydreaming. Daydreaming with music changes the way I perceive this dirty city, it makes it magic, bright and charming. My soul looks up to the moon while my eyes look on the floor: "My feet type as I walk. Daydreaming in motion. I walk on a gray, familiar corridor. My gaze wanders on paving slabs, marbles, chewing gums, motor oils. Silver flashes of the moon pierce my bent skull and meet sparks from the squeaks of the violin that pass through the headphones. I almost synchronized Paganini's crescendo with the sharp peak of my fantasy. I look up to the moon. For a while."

Andromachi Giannopoulou was born in Australia. She went to school in Athens, Greece, and studied Painting in Athens School of Fine Arts. She was awarded a scholarship for studies in Art and Design from the State Scholarship Foundation, and studied Graphic Design and Communication at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. She lives in Athens and works as an art teacher. Her work is the result of a search for the nature of personal experience, by exploring the boundaries between "real life" and memory and on the other hand between "real life" and dream. The border between sleep and alertness, repetitive dreams and space in dreams are some of the elements that fascinate her. It seems that all too often those images that emerge from the subconscious, revolve around a common axis which is the oppression of female sexuality. However she works without an obvious theme, letting the images and feelings reveal all those inevitable distortions of perception.
