About the Artist

Irina Afonskaya

Bulgaria

Irina Afonskaya is an international contemporary artist with a rich cross-cultural background, born in Ukraine, having lived in Russia and Germany, she currently based in Bulgaria.
Irina Afonskaya has participated in international art exhibitions and fairs around the world, including showcases in New York, Vienna, Budapest and Varna, and art fairs in the United States. Her artworks are sold in the USA and Europe and has been featured in American art press and exhibition awards.
She is skilled in all main art mediums as oil, acrylic, and watercolor, gold and metallic pigments to create a captivating shining effect.
Her portfolio includes painting and photographs, abstract and figurative art, exploring diverse themes: landscapes, florals, fauna, fantasy portraits and butterflies.
Irina Afonskaya offers artworks across two tiers: premium signature investment pieces and afordable artworks, making her art available to art lovers of all budgets.
All artworks are gathered in collections by thematic, mediums , colour and price range.
Her art does not adhere to any single conventional style. She firmly believes that a true artist must transcend rigid boundaries to cultivate a distinct, individual voice.
She wants her painting to be unusual, and in figurative works she wish to paint real world, but in unusual way, in modern style, expressing this in fantastic portraits, conceptual flowers of unusual colours and decorative landscapes with autumn and spring trees and meadows with flowers.
By merging the principles of fine and contemporary art, her style can be defined as contemporary fine art, occasionally touching naive art.
Her abstract practice embraces diverse methodologies, including hand made, fluid pouring, splattering, expressive and meditative abstraction.
Nature is her central subject, but it is not just a beautiful picture and interior art, but primary philosophy. She views the beauty of the natural world—particularly blooming gardens and flowering meadows—as a profound symbol of happiness, goodness, peace, and cosmic harmony, standing in deliberate opposition to the human world, full of wars, crimes and conflicts.
Her art is grounded in the philosophy of Vladimir Soloviev and his seminal essay "The Meaning of Art", his ideas that beauty is the physical embodiment of truth and goodness in the material world and has the power to change and improve the world, and illuminate the unkind darkness of material world.
