ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Rua Augusta Arch in Lisbon, Portugal, was inaugurated in 1875 to commemorate the reconstruction of the city after the 1755 earthquake. I chose to photograph it due to its historical importance and beauty, but here I opted for a different angle, being right underneath it and looking up. For this reason, we don't quite realize that it is an arch, but we can see all the richness of detail of the ceiling.

Martiniano Ferraz is a Brazilian artist who lives in Recife, Pernambuco. It was during holiday trips, while still working as an architect, that he was charmed by photography. Nature, architecture and the urban are the themes he usually photographed. From 2020, while isolated in his home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Martiniano Ferraz began to produce also geometric and abstract digital arts, where it is common to have vibrant colors and three-dimensional effects. One of its greatest sources of inspiration, in the use of color, is the art produced by the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes.
