"Light Show" Print

I create expressive, colourful landscape art inspired by the natural world, bringing a sense of light, atmosphere and joy into everyday spaces. My work is for people who feel a strong connection to the landscape and want to live with that feeling — to bring the outdoors in and experience it daily.

Drawing on memories and impressions of the English countryside, I transform what I see into compositions that capture the essence of the land. Fields, hills, trees, flowers and coastlines are reimagined through rich colour, layered textures and dynamic compositions that create a strong visual impact.

My approach to painting is intuitive and responsive. I often begin with loose marks and layers of colour, allowing the image to evolve gradually rather than working to a fixed outcome. Recent work has become increasingly focused on simplifying forms and pushing colour relationships, using contrast, repetition and texture to build depth and movement. I am interested in balancing control with spontaneity — knowing when to refine and when to let the painting remain open and expressive. This process keeps the work fresh and ensures that each piece retains a sense of energy and immediacy.

Printmaking remains at the heart of my practice and continues to be a source of experimentation and invention. I work in monotype, often building intricate, multi-layered images — sometimes using many layers of colour — or creating one-off prints that have the immediacy and freedom of painting. Even after many years, I still feel a sense of excitement each time I pull a print from the press.

With over 30 years’ experience as a full-time professional artist, I am committed to producing work of the highest quality using archival materials. I am based in Northumberland and exhibit in selected galleries across the UK, with my work held in collections both nationally and internationally.
