The painting was inspired by the impression of impervious winter darkness while walking along a desolate country road. In winter when days are short and there is no snow on the ground, the surrounding landscape becomes a dense mass of darkness interrupted only by sparse street lights or by headlights from a passing car. The visual sensation is similar to the emotional state of relentless gloominess which would be unbearable if it were not for glimmers of hope that dot the horizon. ● Gallery-wrapped heavy-duty stretched canvas 24 inches (60 cm) wide, 30 inches (75 cm) high, and 1.5" (4 cm) deep. ● The canvas sides are painted and the gallery wrapping is esthetically suitable to be displayed unframed. ● Ready to hang, hardware included. ● Multiple acrylic gloss and satin varnish coats for UV protection, reduced glare, and easy cleaning.

Dina Belyayeva is a New England-based, Russian-born artist. She received traditional academic training back in the former Soviet Union. After her move to the United States, she pursued career paths in business and academia, and only in 2020 she returned to painting full-time. Dina is a member of art associations in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Her works received awards at competitive juried exhibition and found homes in private collections in the US and internationally. Her artistic style is rooted in traditional realism, covering a wide range of subjects with an intent to convey immediacy, and let authentic energy shine through.
