"Entangled" Painting

Alison Adams is a mixed media artist based near Tetbury in the heart of the Cotswolds, England. Inspired by the wild beauty of the surrounding landscape, her work celebrates the organic forms of nature, often reimagined into fantastical flowers, animals and abstract compositions that blur the boundary between the familiar and the imagined.

Working primarily in acrylic paint and collage, Alison creates richly layered artworks that combine bold colour, texture and intricate detail. Her process is often intuitive and exploratory, embracing chance and spontaneity in the tradition of aleatory art (from the Latin 'alea', meaning "dice"), allowing a piece to evolve naturally as it develops.

Her aim is to create original artworks that bring beauty, optimism and a sense of wonder into people's homes. While inspired by the natural world, her paintings are not intended to be literal representations but imaginative interpretations that invite viewers to discover their own stories and connections. She regards the frame as an integral part of presentation and uses carefully selected or customised frames designed to complement the colours and character of the artwork.
Although art has always been part of her life — her mother was also an artist — Alison's creative journey has been unconventional. Originally trained as a dentist in both the UK and the USA, with a private practice in central London, her career ended prematurely following mercury poisoning after an in-surgery incident. She later retrained as a naturopath before returning to art in retirement with renewed purpose and appreciation for the restorative power of creativity.

Her work has received industry recognition, including honours from the Greater London Enterprise Council and the LUXLife Creative & Visual Arts Awards, alongside numerous accolades for individual artworks.
