ShinYoung was born in South Korea and came to the U.S. in 1995. She received 34 awards in painting, including the 2024 and 2011 Individual Artist Fellowship Grant in painting from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, partnered with the Mid-Atlantic Arts, the 2018 Spring Residency Program of the ESKFF at Mana Contemporary, the Best of Show & Award of Merit of 2004 from the Heartland Exhibition of the City of Merriam in Kansas, and the Len G. Everett Memorial Award for the Advancement of American Art from Allied Artists of America in 2002 & 2008, etc.
In 2003, while traveling with a Xavier Gonzalez & Edwards grant from the Art Students League of NY, she joined the Cercle Artistic de Sant Lluc in Barcelona, Spain.
Her art has been shown at selected and invited exhibitions, mostly in public spaces, in over 130 group exhibitions, nine solo exhibitions, and two two-person exhibitions throughout the U.S., Italy, Spain, Japan, and South Korea.
