Photographed in the Faroe Islands with a 500mm telephoto lens, this work was made in strong coastal winds during early morning, as clouds and fog shifted rapidly across the cliffs. The changing weather caused the sunlight to appear and disappear within moments, continuously reshaping the landscape. ...

Peter Chen is an independent fine art landscape photographer and architect whose work explores the poetic and abstract dimensions of nature. With nearly twenty years of artistic practice, Chen creates images that move beyond representation, focusing instead on atmosphere, spatial depth, and emotional resonance. Beginning his photographic journey in 2005, Chen developed his visual language through long-term engagement with remote natural environments. His early expeditions across uninhabited regions of China shaped a practice grounded in patience, observation, and physical presence within the landscape. Over the years, his work has expanded globally, encompassing diverse geographic and climatic environments across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and polar regions. Rather than emphasizing specific locations, Chen’s photographs transform natural forms into expressive visual structures, allowing ambiguity and suggestion to guide interpretation.“ Since 2019, Chen’s work has increasingly integrated Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Drawing inspiration from Chinese ink painting and Western Impressionism, his images dissolve clear boundaries between form and space, inviting viewers into a contemplative visual experience. In 2024, Chen held a major solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China. Coinciding with the exhibition, a high-end photography monograph titled Ink Realm was published by China Photography Publishing House and printed by Artron. Multiple works from the exhibition entered public museum collections. His photographs have received international awards and have been featured in leading photography publications. Chen is currently based in China and continues to pursue a cross-cultural approach to contemporary landscape photography.
