Contact us.I’m Ágnes Mezosi, an artist from Hungary.
I have always been more interested in the things others might not even notice. A patch of light on a building wall. A repeating shape. A shadow. A displaced detail. Something that, for a moment, makes the familiar world look different.
For me, photography is about searching for these moments. Often, I’m not interested in what is actually in front of me, but in what it becomes when I look at it differently.
I am drawn to constructivism, abstraction, minimalism and avant-garde ideas. Architecture has been an important part of my work for many years, particularly through my long-term project on Marcel Breuer and his buildings. I am interested not only in the architecture itself, but in the forms, details, light and spaces that emerge when I look at it from my own perspective.
At the same time, I am equally interested in blur, movement and uncertainty — in those moments when a photograph no longer gives an obvious answer to what we are looking at.
Perhaps that is why I cannot place my photographs into a single style. Sometimes I look for order; at other times, for the moment when it begins to fall apart.
The world around us is full of things. I am more interested in what remains when we see a little less of it.
