ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In my latest body of work (Boys in Baths) an ongoing project, I is responding to the current racial climate in the United States and the Black Lives Matter movement. My idea is to showcase the black male in a more venerable and humanizing spotlight. After racism reared its ugly head yet again in 2020,I thought a lot about how racism is deeply rooted in so many aspects of American life and not just the obvious, ugly slurs and acts of hate. I wanted to celebrate the beauty of blackness while breaking down harsh, threatening stigmas that are often attached to black men. I wants to help people see the black male in a softer light which, and I hope it will lead to openness to change. This is a triptych the left and right measure 20x40 and the center is 30x40. Framed in a dark brown floater frame.

Steven was born in and adopted from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by two loving mothers. he grew up in Salt Lake City Utah, where he is still living with his partner of 13 years. He Studied at the University of Utah, receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing and a minor degree in Modern dance in 2015. Throughout his studies, he has participated in classes that have lead him to discover his unique artistic style. His work has been displayed at shows like the BFA/ALT gallery through the University of Utah’s Fine Arts Department, the Urban Arts gallery at the Gateway in Salt Lake City, and the annual art show put on the by the Queer Art Spectra. He currently graduated from Davis Technical College in web and graphic design, as he has wanted to broaden his artistic skills.
