About The Artwork

This painting is the fruit of my recovering from Covid. I saw myself or more precisely my legs in the mirror, while i was lying down in exhaustion. I decided to capture the moment, and when I finally found the strength back to paint, I decided to go for a more figurative style than the one I usually paint, to convey the moment. There is a sort of abandonment in the pause, but at the same time a simplicity in the gesture that allows for other emotions to come in, such as the bliss of a repose, a peaceful rest. I haven't painted the body in a realistic form in a very long time. This was a sort of experiment, the will to reassure myself I could still do it, and I needed it as part of my recovery, as it demanded a different energy than the one to paint my previous paintings and drawing.
