About The Artwork

Finnish title: Tarkkailija English title: Observer Acrylic painting on frame's backing board (it's some kind of hardboard, it was very textured but I made it somewhat smoother with gesso). Matte varnish. Framed. Dimension with frame: 46 x 63,5 cm (x2 thickness) I got this idea by looking through all my random photos and selecting one of an interesting shadow across my face from a doorway and one of my hands on a fence like this. It's not supposed to be a self portrait though. I made those references into a totally different thing (the fence picture was very silly originally but the hands in a different context turned quite spooky) I seem to be painting a lot of hands lately. It's always very satisfying to realize hands are not my Achilles' heel after all. The interpretation for this image is up to you. It does have a pretty intense stare on my wall. I didn't specifically decide on what her intentions are. She's a bit of a mystery to me too.

FYI, I also have smaller pieces for sale on Etsy. Link on my website. :) I was born in 1992 in the heart of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. I was an art line student in upper secondary school (in Lyseonpuiston lukio) and continued on to study graphic design in University of Lapland, where I got my bachelor's and master's degrees with a major in graphic design and minoring in art history. I am now trying out a new path with psychology education while I paint, draw and customize dolls in my free time. I suppose a lot of my art could be considered "vent art". I like to put my difficult and strong emotions into my art and use it to deal with difficult questions I'm grappling with. I also like to use art as another vessel for my interests in alternative fashion and whatever else I may find myself obsessed with. My favorite mediums to work with are colored pencils and acrylic paints.
