Arsentij Pawlow`s works show the psychological dimensions of human interaction. Undertones are not missing, occasionally the grotesque or the capriccio interferes. The artist develops his graphics from the expressiveness of lithography, making use of the specific potential of this technology. The grain of the lines in chalk lithography or the valeurs of black ink show their own peculiarity. There are often artistic breaks between realism and non-objectivity, arabesque-like line structures react to the figuration or a moving darkness envelops the scene. The pictorial set pieces form a formal and substantial tension that evokes the sound of the pictures. The semantics of artistic means are constantly being rediscovered and, obviously, fed to an interpretive force that leaves room for viewers` interpretation.
