'From the Kitchen' - A Collage Series My great-aunt had cookbooks. A lot of them. Tucked inside were decades' worth of handwritten notes and clipped recipes, and grocery ads—most from the mid to late 1960s. My original thought was, "I'm going to cook some of these!" But half the ingredients didn't ...

Contact us.Liz Mares works in line. Geometric pieces, collage, loose drawing, even murals: it may look like a range, but it’s one language, and she's been speaking it for more than twenty years. She likes how lines fit together and how they answer each other. When a piece starts talking back, she disappears into it.
Her art studio is a converted bedroom. She works with her hands: shipping boxes and packaging, torn, cut, and sealed, and a power tool whenever a piece lets her use one. The corrugation stays ridged, and the tears stay ragged. The same thinking carries over to a drawing tablet, where she builds digital artwork the way she builds the paper ones.
Her art has reached five continents, appearing in offices, hotels, healthcare spaces, and homes. She’s made pieces for designers, art advisors, and architects. Clients include Google, Texas A&M, and University of Chicago Medicine.
She treats line as structure and never starts from a sketch. Every piece begins the same way: one line at a time.
