Contact us.Gianmaria Cassarino, born in Ragusa in 1988, is a self-taught artist who developed his training outside of academic contexts, driven by a profound passion for art.
He initially devoted himself to drawing, a medium through which he explored the first expressive languages. He subsequently deepened his study of human anatomy through plasticine sculpture, a field that led him to create miniatures for the board game industry.
Fascinated by the potential of new technologies, he approached the digital world, intent on exploring its artistic applications. However, he quickly realized that this language did not reflect his way of working, thus choosing to return to matter, rediscovering oil painting—a medium he had already occasionally experimented with in his youth—which today represents the core of his artistic research.
A fellow countryman of figures such as Fiume, Brancato, and La Cognata, he is a passionate admirer of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and Expressionist painting. His painting practice develops in the figurative field: initially with an impressionist influence, it gradually evolves towards an intimate realism, in a constant attempt to find a balance between form and content.
His works are inspired by everyday life and aim to capture moments of delicate beauty, guided by a subtle vein of melancholy.
