The artwork Reflexes wants to gather together different artistic disciplines and especially wants to put the viewers in the centre of the operation who are not only asked to comunicate with the work but become poten- tially advocates and authors of a neverending cylce. The main idea is to stand in front of the framed mirrored work that carefully reproduces the texture of polystyrene. - each element has its own symbolic value: once in front of the mirror, the viewers can notice a container with different coloured pens right at the bottom of the work; the viewers are asked to choose a pen and to trace the outline of their face while looking at the mirror. This artwork has several symbolic meanings; from this linear and recreational gesture, the author wants the viewers to be able to meditate on themselves and on their own living conditions. The artwork is inspired by a paragraph from Pirandello’s story “Uno nessuno centomila”; when the main character notices that his nasal septum is slighlty deviated he says” My terrible drama was compounded by the discovery of the hundred thousand Moscarda I was” . This is what the works about: to become aware of ourselves by the graphic and artistic experience; a step backward compared to the pace of our times rappre- sented by the reproduction of the frame that symbolizes the massification and the serial ready for use.

Mainoni is a sculptor who perseveres in study, research and experimentation; a linguistic research that originates from the mythological figures of antiquity, strongly linked to drawing and to a decisive and frank plasticity with an almost severe line style. His figures and themes unfold around a poetic research of an anthropological nature, linked to the psychology and impulses of the human soul, characters that we see emerge and vibrate on the surface of the works, trapped in dreamlike atmospheres that do not follow the laws of reality.
