10:10 is a work that focuses on time and our relationship with time. In 1989 Italian post-punk CCCP frontman, singer and lyricist Giovanni Lindo Ferretti was singing in Svegliami that he was «looking for qualities that don't pay off / In this human race that loves watches / That doesn't know time». 34 years later - and 17 years later my first acquaintance of his words - I wonder if things are changed or if the situation might be just the same. Collage, especially in its analogue execution, deals with cutouts that conceptually belong to the past: predominantly shaped in other forms these found fragments are visibile traces that convey the concept of time. A Versace fashion-show street poster is transformed into a gold ground aiming to project the representation on a metaphysical level. Could Benjamin Franklin have guessed that his «Time is money» would be said more times around the world than correctly interpreted, despite the curious fact that he is portrayed on the $100 bill? We might have substituted gold with money, yet a Golden Age - always the best of all ages - is over.

Romeo Madonna (London, 1987) is a collage artist based in Florence where he currently lives and works. A self-taught visual artist, collage - both digital and analog - represents his favorite means of expression, the investigative method of his research and the synthesis of the philosophy underlying his artistic practice. A film student at the Roma Tre University with the aim of becoming a screenwriter, he attended the Accademia di Belle Arti because he was obsessed with engraving and printing techniques. His professional experiences in the field of mixology and luxury retail contributed significantly to defining the traits and themes of his artistic identity, fusing a digital approach with traditional techniques. Visions of time, beauty, identity and death are recurring themes in his works.
