Observing chaos and order in nature, I find beauty in both. Branches piled up on a river, or even a pile of debris, there's something fascinating about the multiple layers and random patterns that are formed. My experience with woodworking gave me an appreciation for the simple beauty within wood....

Contact us.I've always been a multi-disciplined artist, but most of my career has been focused primarily on sculpture. I'm now shifting my attention to printmaking.
My most satisfying works have been inventions. What I mean by that is, creating art that's new, something that hasn't been done before. What I like about printmaking is the freedom to experiment. Drawing from my experience in woodworking, and being a sculptor, I've come up with a unique approach to woodcut printing. It's a departure from traditional methods. I'm exploring new territory.
I’ve always been inspired by stained glass windows and the way they’re made up of fragments of varying shapes and colors. The way they look when viewed from inside, when it’s dark inside and the sunlight shines through, is quite beautiful. In my woodcut prints I aim for a similar effect. I try to create compositions of shapes and patterns formed by multiple pieces of wood fit together, often printed on a black background.
The grain of the wood is an integral part of my artwork. The colors I use emphasize the texture of the wood. I appreciate the natural beauty of wood and see all the intricate curves of the grain that twist and turn and dance around knots as works of art. The process is extremely tedious and time consuming. But that's the life of an artist.
