(born 1989) Visual artist and sculptor. She completed her Master's degree at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in 2016, studying under Christos Mandzios, Henryk Sienkiewicz, and Magda Grzybowska. Her primary area of practice is sculpture, which often interacts with drawing.
She founded her studio in 2017, focusing on small-scale sculpture, primarily utilizing the traditional sculptural medium of plaster and exploring the theme of motherhood. Dorota builds her work around a foundation of abstract forms that straddle the line between abstraction and figuration. Her work stems from the figurative movement. Figures are sharply cut, polished bodies captured in serene poses. In gesture, she feels a need to seek simplicity, seeking formal solutions to construct shape and form. She focuses on simple poses to see how they can be transformed in surprising ways that elevate the experience of the object.
Recently, Dorota has moved her practice to a larger studio, where she works with her sculptural medium, creating custom objects and developing a body of work on paper.
