Contact us.A career in graphic and product design, a sculpture minor from Colorado State University and years of schooling and traveling in Italy, has led Ron to seek possibilities in unexpected places. “Projectizing” is a word he uses to explain a tendency to crash ideas together, ideas that might hold a fresh thought or nuanced perspective. Both design and art works evolve from a series of sketches, studies and variations. He then moves to prototypes, motivated largely by childlike curiosity. This sketch/prototype/assess-later approach serves equally as a progenitor for his fine art. He invites intentional playfulness in a territory between design/craft and art. In the words of W.H. Auden, “A craftsman knows in advance what the result will be, while the artist only knows when he has finished.” Appreciation of artisans and makers is a connecting thread to the work. The artful reconsideration of the lost, the forgotten or once-valued, can hold the opportunity for a renewed perspective.
