About the Artist

Michael Banifatov

Montenegro

Michael Banifatov is a photographic artist. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, he is currently based in Montenegro.

Michael is an award-winning artist whose achievements include Silver Awards at the Sarajevo Photography Festival and BIFA, as well as winning the Architecture Masterprize. His work has also been honored at the PX3 and Urban Photo Awards. The artist's photographs have been exhibited in major cultural hubs including London, Rome, Glasgow, São Paulo, Paris, Trieste, Athens, and Milan. Michael’s works have been featured in prominent international publications and media, such as Aesthetica Magazine, Al Tiba9, and Discours.

In his creative practice, Michael explores themes such as the abstraction of everyday life and the irrationality of reality, as deeply evident in his series titled "Dreams Of Ordinary World." This ongoing project reflects his unique perspective: “I think my works are quite surreal,” the artist says. “It may not seem so at first glance, but I am attracted to the very beginning of the process—when reality just begins to transcend itself. I want to capture that exact moment.”

Michael enjoys assembling individual images into a larger narrative, comparing the process to solving a complex puzzle.

“Occasionally, I present a very limited space,” Michael continues. “The whole world converges at one point, and this point becomes the entire world for you. Then, this world will converge at a single point for someone else. The process is endless, and I truly enjoy this exchange.”
