Contact us.Barbara D’Angelo Månsson is an Italian-Swedish contemporary artist based in Sweden whose work explores the space between order and chaos, structure and freedom.
With a background in science, she approaches painting as a process of experimentation and discovery. Her abstract compositions develop through an intuitive dialogue with materials, combining acrylic, charcoal, textiles, wool threads, and unconventional surfaces.
Rather than creating images according to a fixed plan, she allows each action to influence what follows. Threads may cross, penetrate, or distort the canvas, while layers, marks, and interruptions gradually transform the composition. Materials are not simply tools for constructing an image; they actively participate in its development.
Her work investigates imperfection, uncertainty, and the human tendency to establish structures while simultaneously challenging them.
D’Angelo Månsson has exhibited internationally and participated in the GlogauAIR artist residency in Berlin in 2025. Her practice continues to evolve through an ongoing investigation of painting, materiality, and the expressive possibilities of disruption.
